  • The eyes are just a symbol for the over viewing of the whole country and everything about it, the poverty and the rich, they are God’s eyes.

  • The ominous weather is used throughout the story whenever someone is trying to get a deeper meaning, or an important part of the story.
  • East vs West
  • The valley of ashes refers to the “slums" in the story, they are in poverty and it is located across the river away from everyone else.
