Storyboard Text

  • Hrothgar: For Beowulf's bravery and victory against both Grendel and his mother, we would like to reward you with these gifts. Welthow: Thank you for your bravery and please except this necklace as well as all of the other gifts as a symbol of our gratitude.
  • I will bring these gifts back to my King and Queen, but I must go back to Geatland now.
  • My king and Queen, I have returned and I come bearing gifts. I defeated Grendel and his mother and I was rewarded with these.
  • I was so worried about you, Beowulf. And congratulations on defeating Grendel and his mother! Also, thank you for these wonderful gifts. Now come and tell me all about your battles.
  • Beowulf then told the stories of all his battle with Grendel and his battle with Grendel's mother. Many years went by and Higlac died. Hygd offers Beowulf the crown, but he denies and gives the position to his cousin. A few years later, Herdred (Beowulf's cousin) dies. Finally, Beowulf becomes king. Beowulf rules peacefully for 50 years until one day a dragon was awoken and stolen from. A slave stole the cup to win back his master's honor. While the slave was leaving, the dragon awoke and saw that the slave was taking his cup. The dragon went after him, but was unable to find the slave or cup so the he started to burn down anything he could until he found the slave. Unfortunatly, the dragon never did find the slave, so he terrorized the geats. When Beowulf heard of the dragon, he decided to go after it with an army of men. Beowulf went in alone, but soon enough the dragon had melted his sword and broken his shield, and the dragon was spitting flames everywhere. Everyone but Wiglaf ran and hid. Wiglaf went in to help Beowulf fight. He said to Beowulf, "Now great in deeds, atheling steadfast, with all thy strength shield thy life! I will stand to help thee." Wiglaf was the only one loyal to Beowulf.
  • King Beowulf, we have killed the dragon. Are you ok? Stay awake, just stay awake.
  • With that, Wiglaf ran to grab as much treasure as he could. Beowulf fell into an unbroken sleep moments after he was shown the treasure. After, the other soldiers came in and saw that Beowulf was dead. Wiglaf told them a speech about loyalty, and told the messenger to tell everyone that Beowulf is dead. Everyone then got to work on the tower after Beowulf was cremated. Inside the sealed tower was Beowulf and his treasures. Four men on horses then rode around it as everyone cried at the loss of their great king.
  • Beowulf, our great King will forever live on in history and in our hearts. His story will be told far and wide and he will amaze children for generations to come.
  • I am going to die, I was bitten with his venomous fangs. Please go get me all of the riches you can carry. I want to see it all before I die. Also when I die, I want to be cremated and have a large tower built in my honor that will sit on my land. I want to be buried with riches inside the tower with me!
