Storyboard Text

  • Summer in Philadelphia
  • I wonder what's happening in that building! Probably something really important.
  • In the Liberty Hall
  • We should make a constitution that gives the government more power while still allowing the states power
  • Still in the Liberty Hall
  • A young woman struts outside the Liberty Hall and contemplates what's going on inside.
  • The 3/5th Compromise
  • John Adams proposes an idea that would forever change the economy.
  • Federalism
  • He continues to want to discus his idea.
  • Back Outside
  • Well, I guess a lot of important things are happening, but I don't get to have any fun thanks to all this heat and that foul odor!
  • It would be best for our economy
  • You all get to be three fifths of a person! You don't really get any more rights, but you're kind of a person now!
  • Rodger Sherman (and James Wilson) gave slaves the opportunity to economically count as 3/5's of a white person.
  • George Washington and James Madison are big supporters of federalism and give a brief explanation.
  • Federalism is where the federal government has more power to do things like declare war and regulate trade between states. Anti federalism is where the states essentially have more power than they normally would.
  • It's may still be hot, but there are many more things to worry/be excited about that are going on at the same time.
