Fitting In By Edmar Bedolla and Juan Carrillo
A big problem that lots of people deal with is trying to fit in when we come from two different places. Some people are from two cultures and they feel left out from both, or they feel like they don't belong to either culture.
Today is 4th of July and Sergio (boy on left) is wishing Bob ( boy on right) a Happy 4th of July. Bob does not like this because Sergio is a Mexican- America, and he doesn't think he is worthy of celebrating 4th of July.
Happy 4th of July!!
Shut up! You're not even a full American!
One solution that could help students feel better about being part of two cultures is by making culture appreciation clubs.
Welcome to the Culture Appreciation club
Another solution could be to host an in-school Assembly regarding cultures and Racism. This assembly could be hosted by students of different cultural backgrounds to have a better effect.
Welcome to the Different Cultures and Racism Assembly
The students can also spread the word by putting up an add or posters around town and their neighborhoods.
