"We, Equality 7-2521, were not happy in those years in the Home of the Students. It is considered a sin to have a head which is too quick." (pg. 21)
"Fear nothing, our brothers. There is a great power in these wires, but this power is tamed. It is yours. We give it to you." (pg. 70)
Equality starts out realizing that he is different from other people in his society. He wants to become a scholar and contribute to the world through science.
Equality makes a lightbox in his tunnel that he wants to present to the scholars. He ends up getting rejected by the scholars and not finding his redemption for staying to late in his tunnel. He flees into the Uncharted Forest and all hope is lost.
Equality is now alone in the Uncharted Forest with his lightbox. He realizes that his creation is all that matters now. He never wants to go back to his city. Equality is a complex character because he shows major personality changes throughout these scenes and his feelings have changed about how he feels about others and himself.
