We have to travel through the Sahara Dessert to trade with the king of Ghana. He has Gold.
We have to pay taxes for coming.
We use what is called silent bartering. This is where we bang drums to show our offer. If the people except our offer they bang the drum in return.
The trade route is along the Niger river. Here is where most of the trading is done.
The geography had such a great impact on West Africa. Without the trade routes, on the Niger river, there would be no source of economy.
After many years of success, the Tran Saharan people had a major downfall and lost control due to loss of natural rescorces.
