Storyboard Text

  • Athena was born after her father Zeus had swallowed her pregnant wife (Oceanid Métis). Zeus began to have severe headaches and asked Prometheus or Hephaestus to cut open his head to see what was causing him those headaches. As the process was begun, out sprang Athena fully dressed in her armor.
  • As Athena grew up she became the great determined and powerful woman she was meant to be. Although she had several admirers, she never got married or had children. Instead her passions and principle honors were: war, wisdom, and hard craftsmanship.
  • Marry me Athena!
  • Will you marry me?
  • Although Athena had several conflicts throughout her life, one major conflict she had was the contest between her and Poseidon. Both Athena and Posiedon were asked by King Cecrops to offer a gift truely valuable for the city up in Acropolis.
  • Poseidon, king of the seas went first to demosntrate his power and knowledge. He held his trident pointing it towards the ground and struck violently creating an endless sea named Erekhthesis.
  • Wow!
  • A sea!
  • However, Athena without trying very much thought in the necessities of the people. Afterwards, she pointed her spear towards the ground and an olive tree blossomed strong and tall.
  • Its what we always needed.
  • Wow!
  • After both gifts were presented upon King Cecrops and the people, the King awarded Athena as the winner due to the fact that the people would use more often the oil of the tree for their lamps and cooking as well as the wood for their homes.
  • Athena wins!
