Storyboard Text

  • It was the Election of 1800, and Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr were the candidates. But they each had the same amount of votes!
  • The decision for the third president of the United States of America is now up to the House of Representatives.
  • So who will you choose, Mr. Hamilton?
  • Yeah, what's your decision?
  • I haven't decided. Thomas Jefferson was the original author of the Declaration of Independence and he was Secretary of State under Washington.
  • On the other hand, I do not agree with many of his policies and we are not usually on the same side in matters.
  • Aaron Burr is smart and ambitious. We fought together in the Revolutionary War.
  • Even so, he double-crossed Jefferson in the election process.  I feel he would do anything to advance himself.
  • Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson might not be my preferred choices for president, but if I had to choose one... Jefferson has my vote!
  • With Hamilton's choice, the result was chosen after a long and close election. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States!
