It was the Election of 1800, and Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr were the candidates. But they each had the same amount of votes!
The decision for the third president of the United States of America is now up to the House of Representatives.
So who will you choose, Mr. Hamilton?
Yeah, what's your decision?
I haven't decided. Thomas Jefferson was the original author of the Declaration of Independence and he was Secretary of State under Washington.
On the other hand, I do not agree with many of his policies and we are not usually on the same side in matters.
Aaron Burr is smart and ambitious. We fought together in the Revolutionary War.
Even so, he double-crossed Jefferson in the election process. I feel he would do anything to advance himself.
Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson might not be my preferred choices for president, but if I had to choose one... Jefferson has my vote!
With Hamilton's choice, the result was chosen after a long and close election. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States!
