  • The Chinese people -led by Sun Yatsen- revolted against the Qing dynasty, and created a Republic, with Yaun Shikai as president. After Yuan Shikai's death, China split into two governments- Beijing and the Nationalist government.
  • Long March
  • We have to keep moving to escape the nationalists
  • we're almost to safety!
  • After WWI, Germany's Chinese Colonies were given to Japan, resulting in a massive student protest.
  • Japanese Invasion
  • We must work together to keep the Japanese out!
  • When Sun Yat-sen died, the nationalists split between two leaders- Chiang and Mao. Chiang wanted a nationalist government, while Mao wanted a communist government.
  • Mao led his followers to build a communist government outside of the control of the nationalists.
  • During WWII, the Japanese invaded China, and the civil war was put on hold, both groups agreeing to work together to push Japan out.
