Storyboard Text

  • DNA goes through many changes to form what makes us. The first transformation DNA goes through is called transcription.
  • Transcription is when DNA is "unzipped" and an mRNA strand is created as a copy of one of the genes inside the DNA. So, this mRNA strand a copy of half of this DNA.
  • *UNZIP*
  • Then after the transcription process, translation takes place. Translation is where a ribosome reads the pattern on the mRNA strand builds a protein out of the correct amino acids according to the pattern on the mRNA. The tRNA supplies these amino acids to the ribosome

  • tRNA
  • After the mRNA is read, the construction of the protein begins and then the protein is completed.
  • Ribosome
  • If a mistake were to happen in this process of making a protein or in the process of creating the mRNA, the end result would be very different than what it should have been. The protein wouldn't have the correct amino acids which would cause a mutation in the protein. This would make the protein unable to function normally.
  • Something isn't right here...
