  • Jackson Names Calhoun Vice President
  • I Mr.President name John C. Calhoun Vice President.

  • The Common Man
  • You can because when he was young he was a common person like us.
  • Dad! When I grow up I want to be like Andrew Jackson.
  • In election of 1824 Andrew Jackson lost the election but four years later Andrew Jackson was back for redemption and won the election by a landslide. his supporters were the common man.
  • Spoils System
  • You three are fired !

  • After Andrew Jackson won the election he elected John C. Calhoun as his vice president after he had switched parties to run with Jackson.
  • How elections changed
  • We will now replace caucus with nominating conventions.
  • I know right because the common person now has more of a say in government.
  • Andrew Jackson's most valuable supporters were the common men because while Jackson was growing up he was just a common man like everyone else.
  • End of Presdiency
  • Jackson introduced the spoils system which is the distribution of civil service jobs to political patrons. Basically Andrew Jackson fired everyone that had a job in the government and replaced them with his supporters.
  • Jackson gave the common a larger say in government by introducing nominating conventions. The definition of nominating conventions is when delegates from the states selected the parties presidential candidate.

  • Jackson's stay in the white house ended on March 4, 1837 when he finished his two tenures.
