Alexander, you shall live
Alexander ordered the execution of the Lyncestian brothers after the murder of his father, Philip. He believed they were a part of his murder as they had always wanted the throne for themselves.
the king has changed only in name, the state will be run on priciples no less effective than my fathers
However one of the brothers, Alexander, was spared as he had been the first to recognise Alex as the new king of Macedonia. Also because he was the son-in-law of Alexs great friend, Antipater. Attalus was also killed as he supported Cleopatra and her son with Philip who would threaten Alex's right to the throne
LEAGUE OF CORINTH
Alexander held a fancy state funeral for his father. This was so the Macedonians would see him as a loyal son, showing he had thought hard about his public figure and also his intelligence, revealing publicly that he is Philips replacement.
He used the funeral to show the Macedonians that he had the same principles as his father to win their support. He said 'the king has changed only in name and that the state would be run on principles no less effective than those of his father's administration
Alexander claimed Philip's position as leader of the League of Corinth which was a political organization founded by Philip in 338 BC to establish peace terms and leadership over the Greeks to set up an army to invade persia
Alexander wanted to follow Philip's main goal of invading Persia so he took his army to Greece and forced them to acknowledge him as leader which meant he could control Greece and invade Persia
