I was the first to say something. “Hi” I said there was a silence. He then said back “Hi” with a soft voice. I then looked at him and replied back with “What’s your name?”he said it was Subhi. I liked it, Subhi, It has a nice ring to it. Before he could manage to say something I looked at my mums book and then to him and asked if he knew how to read, he looked at me and nodded his head. A smile appeared on my face.
It had been some time talking to Subhi so I decided I should head back before it got dark. I then turned around and started walking. I waved to Subhi and he waved back. I started to travel my way back. I passed the big bush and the rocks so I knew I was on the right track. I saw my house and began to walk up to the front door.
I walked in the door, I passed Jonah watching tv and dad passed out. I walked into my bedroom with a smile as big as if I had a slice of watermelon in my mouth, stretching my cheeks. I couldn’t wait for tomorrow. The fact that someone could read my mum’s book blew me away. I laid on my bed, closed my eyes and went to sleep, thinking about the magical day I just had.
