Storyboard Text

  • Lets check in with our meteorologist, Mary Margaret.
  • Hello! Urgent news here in Maryland! A blizzard is making its way toward our local area!
  • Hey, its Mary Margaret here, reporting on our local storm. Down here in Old Ellicott City, we're preparing for the storm to hit. Shops have closed in advance, and locals have been stocking up for the blizzard.
  • You should follow these same steps to keep safe during this severe weather. Find a safe spot in your house, and keep supplies in there such as bottled water, flashlight, batteries, radio, and non perishable food.
  • What're signs that a blizzard is approaching?
  • And how will we know when it's safe to go outside?
  • There are certain weather patterns that indicate a storm is approaching. Examples of this are precipitation increasing, temperatures decreasing, wind speeds picking up, and air pressure increasing slightly.
  • How would you advice people to stay safe during this storm Mary?
  • And how would you advice people to make, plans during this wintery storm?
  • Everyone should be ready to cancel plan at a moment notice, in case the blizzard affects their area. They should also buy supplies even if they're unsure if the storm will affect them. This will help them be prepared for all possible outcomes.
  • First off, locals should know that we can never be completely positive which direction the storm will follow in advance to the day. This means everybody should be prepared for the storm to hit their area.
