The Spanish Armada set sail on the 28th May 1588-
The Spanish ships were spotted- and England was warned
From the 20th to 27th July, the English fleet attacked the Armada as it sailed up the English Channel.
On 27th July, the Armada anchored in open seas off Calais. The English sent Fire ships, so the Spanish cut their anchors.
The two countries attack each other. By using fire balls.
The Spanish fleet fled north, chased by the English fleet. They had to return home by sailing round the north of Scotland and the west coast of Ireland, where many ships were sunk by storms.
