The diagram on the right shows how molecules look when water is in its solid form. The molecules in this stage are very close together and move very little. If this solid were exposed to heat it would start to melt into water, the molecules would spread out and start to move more.
The diagram on the right now shows the arrangement of how molecules look when water is in its liquid state. The molecules are spread out more and are moving more. If we were to boil this water the molecules would spread apart even more and move more and dissolve in the atmosphere.
The diagram on the right now shows water molecules in their gas state. They are now spread out very far and are moving around a lot with a lot of energy.
