The English Reformation occurred in 1534 during King Henry VIII's reign.
King Henry VIII wasn't happy, for his spouse, Catherine of Aragon could not produce a male heir. He believed that the lack of an heir because his marriage was "blighted in the eyes of God."
"WHAT ARE YOU THINKING THIS IS NOT ALLOWED!!"
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS"
So Henry wanted a divorce. But the Pope of the Anglican Church would not allow this, for Marriage was a vow to God to be together forever.
This made the King angry so he got an idea. Henry decided he would part ways with the Church and crate his own.
He made a new Church called the Church of England and claimed himself the final authority of it. Many people disagreed with this idea and there was a lot of political arguing but in the end, King Henry VIII won.
After becoming head and final authority of the Church of England. King Henry divorced to his wife and married Anne Boleyn and continued to rule England.
