  • STOP! You're in violation of your working code. Your hair is a shocking 14 inches long. That's two WHOLE inches too long. Were taking you to the station. Be prepared for your new look!
  • What have I ever done? I'm trying to get my mail officers!
  • example of constant surveillance
  • example of dehumanization
  • In this hairy dystopia, long hair is forbidden and light colored hair makes you an outcast. On the TV Patricks Plain and Permanent hair dye commercial plays all day, insisting you pick the black hair dye although there really isn't any other color. The people of Hairtopia have complete faith in their leader trusting everything he says to be correct. Their leader says that their world has been destroyed, the only way to move forward is to cut your hair to keep you from getting distracted and start working at age 14 and to never stop. The girl in pink is Alyssa, shes the rebel in Hairtopia. She grows out her hair and refuses to dye it just because she can.
  • The hair inspectors measure anyone's hair who they believe to have hair that's longer than 12 inches. If it's a single hair too long your head gets shaved for a "fresh start", so you know when you're disobeying for next time. They make you attend meetings if you have disobeyed the rule not to mention the shame you wear while waiting for your hair to grow. Although Alyssa has done nothing to arouse suspicion it doesn't matter because the government KNOWS she hasn't gotten her haircut. Hairtopias leader, Hamilton has records on everyone and sends the police off to do his dirty work.
  • In Hairtopia weekly exterminations occur. Hamilton's motto is "once your grey you go away", what he doesn't tell you is WHERE you go. Because the people in this society hold all their trust in Hamilton, they never question why they are sent to be exterminated to begin with. The reasoning behind them being disposed of is so they can all be alike, and there are no distractions from constant work. Also, they aren't fazed by death since its just a regular thing that happens every Friday. They don't care that they are sent to the extermination hall; to be exposed of. Nobody has ever thought to question why grey hair suddenly makes you useless.
