Storyboard Text

  • I'm Martin Luther. I am very annoyed and disappointed with the church because they are selling indulgences. You can't buy your way into Heaven!
  • Martin Luther was so angry that he made 95 theses. The list of theses was the catalyst to the Reformation.
  • 95 Theses
  • The church had been lying, making up false information, and telling people they can only get into heaven by paying.
  • I am here in the court of Worms because I am still protesting the church's selling of indulgences. I am refusing to take my theses down.
  • This is ridiculous! I don't lie!
  • That night placards that were stamped with a German peasant's shoe were nailed to the town hall and all over Worms. This was a silent warning that is anyone condemned Luther, the peasants would revolt.
  • The next day the Emperor called the electors and princes to ask for their opinion. They asked for more time to consider. When hearing this, Martin Luther decided to give his opinion. When the electors heard this they wanted to uphold the emperor.
  • I'm in the wilderness!
  • Once the edict was signed Luther disappeared and nobody knew where he went. Everyone thought he was dead, but he friends were receiving letters from him.
  • I'm John Calvin. I used to agree with Martin Luther, but now I don't. Right after Luther, I had the greatest impact on the Reformation.
  • John Calvin created the "5 points of Calvinism" These are his most well-known teachings set forth in his greatest work.
  • John Calvin was greeted with the news and he lived the rest of his life in Switzerland by teaching people about his religion.
  • Everyone started following and loving me, but I was persecuted in France so I moved to Switzerland.
  • Welcome to Switzerland! The Scholars are making this the Athens of Switzerland.
