  • Three men were hung at Upton Wood for three months. A raven ate their eyes. They have no eyes. People were scared. Ravens ate the bodies. The first killed was crazy, the second scared, the third a young boy

  • "Eyes were blue like ice."- Simile "Three months on air."-Imagery "The eyes looked like six black bowls"-Simile "Drank the wine of fear."- Personification Youth vs Death, Death vs afterlife
  • 6) Title/Theme
  • Sad & Depressing because a young lad was killed. Ends with justification and closure.
  • "But a maiden came there who felt no fright."-not everyone was scared " Now four ghosts dance in Upton Wood."-it went from sad to closure/ somewhat happiness
  • Upton Wood is a place where people die representing sadness. People's actions have consequences.
