Telling a Story about my views on learning
Growing up with a mother who was an Early Years Teacher, she developed my love and inspired my passion in working and teaching younger children. My home life followed more of a Piaget teaching style where my younger bother and I where encouraged to explore and interact with our environment and that out curiosity fuelled our learning
Through out my schooling I struggled. I often had trouble following and keeping up with the rest of the class. I spent a lot of my younger Adolescents in and out of hospital, and found that I started to fall even more behind and struggled more to try and keep up with me my peers.
I started working in Childcare 16 years ago. Over the last 10 years my Teaching Methods have changed and developed in not just interacting, playing and observing children but in to teaching and learning a long with them. My early teaching experience was more following a Montessori approach
Working in Germany as an English specking Nanny helped me to understand different culture backgrounds and believes. Awhile as how children learn and develp a second language
After leaving and working in Germany I came back home and started working in a childcare centre in Melbourne where I rediscovered enjoyment of working with younger children and especially 3 -4 year olds
Over the past 5 years I have been a mentor to follow Educators and student educator and while as developing my own skills as an early childhood educator, this has lead my in to wanting to further develop my skills as an early years educator and go back and study the Bacolor of Teaching Early years.
