president jackson sign into a law a tariff that help tensions in a issue but didnt say about southern businesses and politicains and jackson vise president john c calhoun went to senate to fight the tariff.

it was under calhouns leadership and south carolina was organizing against tariffs and they adopted the ordinance of nullification and didnt want to follow or obey the law and some in south carolina said they secede.
jackson issued the force bill and was allowed to use the military against south carolina and quash them.
