Janet is sad because she just turned 30. Her friends are 30 too but she thinks she looks much older than them.
Janet remembers that in her high school physics class she learned that time travel was possible if you went fast enough in space. Janet decides to time travel a little bit so that her friends will now look older than her.
Janet calculates that she will need to leave for about 5 years travelling at 95% the speed of light. However, Janet takes a wrong turn and ends up light years away from her initial destination.
After 12.5 years, Janet comes across a massive star. She gets pulled into its gravity and is able to slingshot her rocket around back towards Earth.
When Janet returns she is 55 years old, but she doesn't know how much time has passed on Earth. She is shocked by how much everything has changed and she doesn't know anyone anymore
Janet goes to a friend's house but finds a woman who looked similar to her. She explains that Janet was gone for 25 years so 80 Earth years passed. All of her friends had died years ago, but since the star she reached was not massive enough to warp her time further, her friends' children were all still living on Earth.
