John Proctor takes Mary Warren to the court so she can tell them that the girls are lying about witchcraft. She states to Danforth that people sending their spirits out is pretense.
The other girls are brought in. Parris ask Mary to fake faint like she has done in court before. She cannot because she is not in the same state of mind.
John states that he committed the crime of adultery and the court brings in Elizabeth because she never lies. Yet she does to protect John, not knowing that he already already admitted it to the court.
Abigail claimed that Mary's was sending her spirit in a bird to attack them. Mary was pleading that she wasn't but the court did not believe her.
Mary turned on John because she was being accused of being a witch by Abigail and the other girls.
Mary said that John made her sign her name in the Devils book. Then John used the lords name in vane and then shortly after was arrested for witchcraft.
