You HAVE to pay them!
Go away nobody is going to pay taxes!
Owww they shot me! Me too!
I hereby declare both you British soldiers guilty.
A group of colonists were taunting the British guards. The British guards were there to enforce taxation measures passed by a British parliament that lacked American representation.
The group of colonists started throwing snowballs and other objects. Private Hugh Montgomery was hit leading him to shoot his rifle at the crowd. Then a moment later the other guards started to shoot at the colonists, when the smoke cleared 5 colonists were dying.
The British soldiers were put on trial and patriots John Adams and Josiah Quincy agreed to defend the soldiers. When the trial ended in December 1770 two British soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter and had their thumbs branded for "M" for murder as punishment.
