Once upon a time in a faraway jungle, there was a frog, a monkey, and a lion who were all best friends They went to jungle school together, where Ms. Ellie the elephant taught them everything the children needed to know
One day, Ms. Ellie told her students they would have a test coming up. Fiona the frog was so excited by this news. She loved everything about the jungle, especially Ms. Ellie’s class, so she was always happy. Larry the lion immediately became anxious. He did not like to be tested on anything. Monty the monkey did not appear to care about the test
On the way home, the three friends discussed their studying strategies. “I am so excited I am going to go home right away and study!!” exclaimed Fiona. “I will probably study every day for six hours until the test!” Monty rolled his eyes. “Why would you do that when you can hang out in a tree and eat coffee beans?” “I can’t study that much, it makes me anxious,” said Larry. “Plus, my parents are taking me hunting, so I’ll have to study in-between on my breaks.”
Fiona returned to her home near the water and studied all day for her test and she swam around. She did this every day until it came time to go back to jungle school and see Ms. Ellie, only stopping for a break once in awhile.
Back under his family tree, Larry the Lion informed his parents about the test. “Oh my!” said Larry’s mother, Lucy. “You will certainly have to study! We will make sure to give you a few hour-long breaks between hunting this week!” “Yes,” said Larry’s father, Lennie. “I can help you study for shorter periods of time.”
Meanwhile, Monty the Monkey decided all he wanted to do was climb around and avoid school work, as usual. He spent each day in his favorite coffee tree. The night before the big test, Monty’s mother Mandy found him. “Monty, Ms. Ellie sent a note home saying you have a big test tomorrow! Have you studied?” Monty pretended to look surprised. “Oh no! I completely forgot. I will start studying now.” Under his mother’s watchful eye, he decided to cram all of his studying into a large chunk of time high up in his tree the night before the test.
