Storyboard Text

  • "Listen everybody. If this isn't an island we might be rescued straight away. So we have to decide if this is an island"(23).
  • Ralph, the ego, tries to recreate a democratic society and balance Piggy and Jack. He uses the conch to get his ideas through to the others and create a organized meeting.
  • "What is wrong with a fire down here? We'd make smoke just the same"(129).
  • Piggy, the superego, tries to keep the group organized by suggesting that they should make the fire on the beach. Only Piggy could have the intellectual daring to suggest moving the fire from the mountain.
  • Jack, the id, which has no sense of conscience, is ecstatic that they killed the pig. This results in him painting Maurice's face in blood with no second thought
  • "Jack grabbed Maurice and rubbed the sow's blood all over his cheeks"(135).
  • "They're twins, Sam 'n Eric. Which is Eric-? You? No-you're Sam-"(21).
  • Piggy wants to keep the group organized, so he decides to ask everyone for their name. The superego keeps others civil and moral by adding individuality to them.
  • "I'm Sam-"(21).
  • " 'n I'm Eric"(21).
  • "Who wants Ralph not to be chief?" (127).
  • Jack wants the boys to side with him and make him the leader but, all he gets is silence. The id is impulsive and demands immediate satisfaction. He isn't effected by logic or reality.
