  • It's time some people knew they've got to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us.

  • “Roger led the way straight through the castles, kicking them over, burying the flowers, scattering the chosen stones. Maurice followed, laughing, and added to the destruction.” (64).
  • This demonstrates the theme of civilization vs savagery because it shows that Ralph is trying to have an assembly to discuss important things while some of the boys don't want to have another assembly.
  • Conch! Conch!
  • I got the conch -
  • This demonstrates the theme of civilization vs savagery because it shows that Ralph is trying to get Jack to follow the rules of the conch while Jack is being mean to Simon, Walter, and Bill.
  • All the same you need an army- for hunting . Hunting pigs.
  • This demonstrates the theme of civilization vs savagery because the littluns built sand castles, and the Roger and Maurice decided to knock them over. The littluns probably learned to build sand castles before they were on the island which brings them a sense of civilization.
  • This demonstrates the theme of civilization vs savagery because Jack and Piggy are fighting, but Piggy is acknowledging that they need to have the conch in order to speak which gives the boys a sense of civilization.
  • This demonstrates the theme of civilization vs savagery because it shows that the boys know that they need hunters so that they can get meat. This also shows Jack's first steps of savagery by wanting to kill a pig.
