THE CASK OF AMONtILLADO
It was a long time ago when Fortunato laughed at Montresor's name; historical, in fact. Montresor did not take this feedback very easily either; it would soon turn in to a very eerie revenge.
Montresor was hurt. He wanted nothing but revenge against Fortunato; well, revenge without consequences. Montresor covinced a somewhat drunken Fortunato to come taste some Amontillado down in his vaults; so off they went.
They traveled down the vaults. As they went, the lights kept getting dimmer and the lack of Amontillado raised Fortunato's suspicions. Finally, they reached a staircase in which Montresor claimed would lead to the wine they were seeking.
They arrived at the the bottom of the staircase. The suspicion increases while there is still not a sight of any wine. Suddenly, Montresor chains Fortunato tightly to the wall. Confused, Fortunato frantically asks Montresor what is happening.
Montesor began to take nearby rocks and build a wall around Fortunato. Fortunato was trapped, and the only thing he could do was plead for help.
After the wall was completely covered, Montesor left. He did as he wished; he successfully took revenge without any consequences. All it took was a little lie about a cask of Amontillado.
