  • Greg is mad because he isn't allowed to play on the basketball team due to his grades. He is mad at his father, his school, and himself. All the while listening to the rain that is "filled with angry, swirling clouds." (personification)
  • Lemon Brown says "Don’t try nothin’ ’cause I got a razor here sharp enough to cut a week into nine days!”, (which is an idiom) to scare Greg off.
  • Greg is happy that he met Lemon Brown. He thinks back on what had happened a few short hours ago. Greg thinks about Lemon Brown's "treasure" (also a metaphor) and how he doesn't have it that bad, because he could be in Lemon Brown's situation.
