An important event leading up to the battle of the tours was when the Muslims in Spain would threaten the French.
Abd er Rahman’s army marched north to the River Loire and Mayor Charles marched south to stop further attacks.
The battle began with both armies waiting for the other to make a move. No one began until Abd er Rahman's army made the first move on the seventh day.
Abd er Rahman’s army was beginning to retreat and he tried to stop it. During this time, Rahman was killed and the Muslims were forced to return to their camp with no leader.
After the battle was over, the Franks defeated the Muslims one more time near the River Berre.
The Franks victory was celebrated by eating crescents, a symbol of the invader.
