Storyboard Text

  • Starting point: Grade 10
  • We all have to start somewhere, and my starting point is grade 10. It is here and throughout the rest of high school that I will gather important learning skills (responsibility, organization, initiative, self-regulation, collaboration, independent work) and work ethic. These skills are important for the rest of your career, no matter what you're doing, because there's always somewhere they can be applied.  For example, it is important to be able to work independently and take initiative when starting new tasks and setting goals. You are more likely to accomplish these goals if your are responsible and organized with your of action, as well as self-regulating along the way. Also significant, the ability to get along with your co-workers will take you far in life.
  •
  • I'd like to do volunteer work at a local hospital or community health centre, not only for my 40 hours, but also for experience in the medical field.
  • Working with others and interacting with patients will help improve collaboration!
  • I intend to volunteer at a hospital or community health centre, as well as completing co-op, not only as a way of achieving the required 40 hours to graduate, but also to pick up an idea of how things run in a professional medical environment. It is my goal to attend medical school and become a surgeon, so having spent time in that volunteer field could be helpful. Furthermore, it would provide me with insight on what exactly different people in the environment do. Having learning skills such as responsibility and self-regulation would be helpful as a volunteer because it would be easier for my supervisor to trust me.
  • Working with others and interacting with patients will help improve collaboration!
  • Attend University... Dream school: McGill!
  • Working with other volunteers, doctors, and patients will help improve my collaboration skills, something that will prove helpful in a real work environment. It will do this by creating a group situation in which I cannot lead and therefore challenging me to take the ideas and thoughts of others and use them to further my own learning.
