We meet the Birling family in their kitchen celebrating a wonderful occasion of the marridge or Sheila Birling and Grald Birling. Everyone is present and Eric has had a bit too much to drink, the family are arguing.
The inspector arrives at the Birling household. At first he interrogates Mr Birling about the Murder of young Eva Smith, Gerald and Eric listen intently. Mr Birling denies taking part in the event yet there is much evidence pointing towards him.
Now it's Shelia's turn to take thew blame, Sheila (unlike her father) breaks down and is sorry for what she has done. She admits to kicking Eva out of her job for a stupid and unjust reason yet over re actis in many ways.
The next person to be interrogated is Gerald. He is blamed for picking Eva Smith (who is now called Daisy Renton) up in the Palace Bar. He cared for her for a while and then when the engagement of him and Sheila approached he dumped Daisy and left her without anything.
Mrs Birling next, almost innocent but she tipped Sheila/Daisy Renton off the edge. If Mrs Birling had shown her the slightest bit of kindness Sheila may have not taken her life into her own hands.
Now lastly Eric is blamed. Eric met Daisy before his mother yet he was interrogated last after his mother had been predudice about 'whoever got the girl pregnant.' He got her pregnant and treated her like an object. He catered on her needs with stolen money until Daisy told him he should leave her and go.
