  • The famine disease is getting bad here, I think we should move to America for better opportunities and before one of us gets sick.
  • I agree, moving to America sounds like a good idea!
  • I can't wait to get to America and get off this boat!
  • In Ireland there was very bad disease happening causing people to move away. Poverty in Ireland also caused people to move.
  • The Irish couple takes a boat to America, with many other people that are immigrating to America.
  • I'm so tired of working in the factory, I wish I could have a different job.
  • The conditions on the boat were not very good. They had to stay at the bottom of the boat where many people got sick.
  • Living in America is hard...
  • Most Irish men built canals as their job in America. The working conditions were not good and many of them died because of the dangerous conditions.
  • Working in a factory was a hard job and had very bad conditions. There were long work hours, low income, and the places were not safe to work at. A lot of Irish women also worked as servants.
  • The living condition were not nice for the Irish. Many of them didn't have enough money to stay somewhere nice. A lot of the Irish lived in the Northeast area like, Boston, Philly and Baltimore.
