- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Definition: A mental illness is a health condition that changes a person's thinking, feelings or behavior and that causes the person distress and difficulty in functioning.
- Signs & Symptoms: An individual that has obsessions (recurs again and again; persistent thoughts) and/or compulsions (repetitive behaviors and rituals)
- Current Treatments: usually treated with psychotherapy, medication or both
- Prevalance: affects about 2.2 million adults
- Age of Onset: childhood or teen yrs.
- most diagnosed by age 19
