Today we will be visiting the Han Dynasty. We will learn the government, art, warfare, medicine and industry.
I am now at the Chinese capital. The Chinese government runs as a bureaucracy. A bureaucracy is.large group that runs off of a fixed set of rules. At each level of the bureaucracy, people direct those who are at the level below them.
The two most important industries in China were salt and silk. I am now at the place where some silk is made. Silk is a fiber that is made from silkworm cocoons. Since silk took a long time to make, the Chinese made a foot powered machine to make it more efficient.
Today I am in a home of a Chinese artist. Before the invention of paper the Chinese wrote on silk. During the Han Dynasty the Chinese invented paper. Paper in China was made from silk fibers, hemp, bamboo, straw, and seaweed.
During the Han dynasty, the Chinese had a huge army with 130,000-300,000 people. One thing that the China's army was known for was there iron fish scaled armor.
During the Han dynasty, doctors learned many new things. Doctors found out that the heart pumps blood to the body and back to the heart. Doctors also found out that you should judge a person's health by looking at there heart rate.
