Storyboard Description

In this comic strip, it exemplifies how people perceive food and choose what they want to eat based on advertisements and celebrity endorsements. However, certain products may not be purchased by everyone due to socioeconomic differences. Therefore, people in lower socioeconomic statuses must buy cheaper, mass produced, chemical-reliant products. This in turn, can affect human health and cause environmental degradation.

Storyboard Text

  • OMG Mom, we want that organic soy ice cream we saw on TV!
  • The girls always want to try new foods and set trends so other people eat those foods too.
  • Good thing we're so rich and famous and can afford healthy, organic foods
  • Meanwhile at a non-organic farm...
  • We try to grow our soy without pesticides or fertilizers, but our food system is too homogenized. We won't produce enough crop without chemicals, so we can't go "organic". This makes me sad because we're destroying the soil and our environment.
  • We're going to hang out in our hot tub and relax while eating our ice cream, not recognizing our privilege!
