Soc's vs Greasers
The church is an important setting because it shaped ponyboy as a person/greaser. When the fire started in the church, Ponyboy decided to go in the burning church and risk his life for a few children. Even if he lost Johnny it still made him stronger as a person. This also shaped Ponyboy because the church made him bond with Johnny and socialize and get closer.
Johnny is important to Ponyboy because Johnny and Ponyboy have been through so many things together. Thing will stick together no matter what. Even when they were in the burning church they still stuck together even if the may not see the next day, they still saved the children. They also stuck together when Johnny killed Bob they got through it.
The Socs vs The Greasers shaped Ponyboy as a person because with the Socs around, Ponyboy feel's threatened and unsafe. It also makes Ponyboy live a different life style. Even if his parents were still alive the conflict would still go on. If the Socs excepted the Greasers for who they were than he would feel normal and accepted.
