  • Exposition, Setting - The story starts by him writing his letter in jail.
  • Exposition, Character - The narrator is not old, but most likely a middle age man
  • Exposition, Conflict - Man vs. Self The narrator struggled with Alcoholism
  • Conflict - The narrator cut his cat's eye out due to alcoholism
  • Conflict, Setting - This is the basement. The narrator killed his wife and hid her corpse in a wall. This happened as a result of his drinking problem.
  • Falling Action, Resolution - The narrator is in his feelings and police come for a inspection of the premises. They find the body and he is found guilty of murder.
