Hollis had a hard time in school. She never made friends and struggled with teachers which repeatedly gave her reasons to run away.
Hollis thought all houses looked the same. She did not care to see details or get attached to the house or the people because she knew she probably run away soon.
Even though Hollis finally felt like part of a family with the Regans, she could not let Steven take blame for the truck and the guilt made her run again.
Hollis really liked living with Josie but ended up taking care of her. When it was necessary to run this time, she took Josie with her so she knew that she would okay.
After running away to the cabin, Steven found them and discreetly brought them food. This time instead of running away, she ran back to her new family.
Now that Hollis finally had the family that she had always dreamed of and she had no more reasons to run. Her life and her picture was finally complete.
