Emily invites Homer to a dinner party at her house. After Homer entered her house, he was never seen again.
After the funeral and burial of Emily, the town folks entered the room that had been closed for 40 years. Upon entering, they founded the body of Homer Barron, rotting in bed. In the dusty pillow next to Homer, they saw the cleft produced by a head, and there, they saw long gray hair rests on it.
