  • The Tell-Tale Heart

  • The narrator explains how nervous he is. He explains how he took the life of an old man, and he says that he is haunted by his decision. He asks the reader, multiple times, if he is crazy for his actions.
  • Introduction
  • The narrator decides to attempt to kill an old man. He chose to do so because he wanted to get rid of the man's pale blue vulture eyes.
  • Rising Action
  • One night, the narrator sees the old man, and shines a light on him, and sees that he is awake. The old man screams, and the narrator, afraid of being reported, decides to kill the old man.
  • Climax
  • The narrator properly hides the body of the old man by cutting him up, and hiding him in the floorboards. Three police officers come inside because of a report of foul play. The narrator is not afraid, for he believes he has nothing to fear.
  • Falling Action
  • The narrator starts to hear a noise that increasingly gets louder. Eventually the narrator breaks, down and admits to crime. He tells the police officers to tear up the planks, so they can find his body.
