Ponyboy vs Society
Greaser vs. Socs
Ponyboy does not fit in with society. Ponyboy is kind and cares about other people. But he is also a greaser, people see greasers as tough and trouble makers, they not as kind. When people saw that Ponyboy saved kids from a burning church they saw him as a hero. Ponyboy started to be noticed as something more than a Greaser.
At the start of the book Ponyboy thought that Darry didn't love him at all. When Darry came to the hospital after the fire accident, Pony boy finally realized that Darry loves him. Before, Ponyboy was convined that Darry didn't love him. but at the end of the book Ponyboy realized that Darry was just hard on him because he wanted him to be safe.
In "The Outsiders" There is a huge conflict between Greasers and Socs. Ponyboy does not like that there is a big conflict. At the beginning of the book Ponyboy is scared of the Socs because they beat him up. But at the end he is angry at the Soc's, he blames the for Johnny being injured. But he still does not want there to be a conflict between the Socs and Greasers.
