  • I gave her the wrong spell she going to fall in love with me
  • He waited for her on top of a mountain.
  • Psyche's eyes filled with tears as she stood on the mountain panting with fear. Then she was gently lifted from the earth by Zephyr, god of the west wind, who carried her up to a flowery meadow, where she fell asleep.
  • The beast told Psyche to wait for him in top of a hill
  • Her parents took Psyche up the mountain. They left her there.
  • When she awoke, she saw the magnificent palace of a god. She entered and everything she saw filled her with amazement. Golden pillars supported the high arched roof and beautiful carvings and paintings of hunting and country scenes hung on the walls.
  • A voice called out to her, "My lady, all that you see is yours."
  • Psyche never saw her husband. He came only at night in the darkness. He would not allow candles to be lit. He left before morning. But his words were full of love. She loved him, too. She often begged him to stay and let her see him. But he said, "If you saw me, you might fear me."
  • Her sisters went back home. That night she did as they said. She hid a lamp and a sharp knife. Her husband fell asleep. She lit her lamp and saw he was a beautiful god.
  • Her sisters said she was in great danger. They told her to hide a lamp and sharp knife near the bed. They said to wait until her husband was asleep. Then she must use the lamp to see him. If he was a monster, she should cut off his head.
  • Her sisters went back home. That night she did as they said. She hid a lamp and a sharp knife. Her husband fell asleep. She lit her lamp and saw he was a beautiful god. A drop of hot oil from the lamp fell on the shoulder of the god Cupid. He opened his eyes. Without saying a word, he spread his white wings. He flew out of the window.
  • Then Cupid flew to Jupiter, the king of the gods. He told him he loved Psyche. Jupiter decided that Cupid and Psyche should be together. Jupiter went to Venus and convinced her to let them be husband and wife. Psyche was brought to Jupiter's palace. He gave her a cup of the wine of the gods. He said, "Drink this, Psyche. You will live forever married to Cupid." She did.
