Storyboard Text

  • Qin was very determined and had a great vision of what he wanted China to become. The things he achieved helped lay the foundations for China, both in the past and the present.
  • Princess Te Puea was a Maori leader from Waikato. She was born into a very influential Maori family, but when she was young she did not want to have those important responsibilities, she only excepted her importance in later life. Te Puea tried to do what was best for her people and was a determined and strong leader. She wasn't afraid to speak her mind and fight for what she believed in, even if it wasn't popular with others.
  • Dame Whina Cooper was a woman who worked for many years on getting rights for her people. Whina was the founder of the Maori Women's Welfare League which worked on improving housing and employment for Maori people who moved to the cities. Shes most famous for her land march where she walked from Northland to parliament. Like Te Puea, Whina Cooper was a determined person and a kind and thoughtful leader.
