Storyboard Text

  • EXPOSITION
  • CONFLICT
  • NO! I want to be ME!
  • As the Handicapper General, I command you to be normal!
  • RISING ACTION
  • News flash! Harrison Bergeron is on the loose!
  • Hazel and George Bergeron live in a world where people who are more intelligent, strong, or attractive than average get handicaps to impair them. Their son, Harrison, gets sent to jail because he's too smart and creative.
  • CLIMAX
  • Often people get hurt and are miserable because of these mental and physical impairments. Some people go against these laws and handicaps, one of those people being Harrison Bergeron.
  • FALLING ACTION
  • As Hazel and George watch TV, they see ballerinas dancing, but stumble and fall because of the impairments on them. A newscaster arrives to report that Harrison has escaped from jail!
  • RESOLUTION
  • What just happened...?
  • Harrison bursts into the studio (on the TV George and Hazel are watching), and takes off all his impairments with tremendous strength. He also takes off one of the ballerina's handicaps, too, and dances with her. It's not long before the Handicapper General arrives, shooting and killing both Harrison and the ballerina.
  • The Handicapper General commands each person to keep their handicaps on. Then the television went black.
  • George and Hazel were confused. They hadn't realized what had happened to their own son. They brushed it off as just "something sad on television." And so it goes.
