The story takes place in Washington DC.
Alex(far right) is the 16 year old main character, standing with his family. To his right is his sister Ella who is 14,brother John who is 7, and the family pet Sophie. His mom is Karen and Dad is Robert. The girl in red it Kaitlyn Green.
Alex is at a pool party when he is asked about his scar.He explains that when he was younger he got into a car accident. the girl who had asked about it seemed interested and asked if Alex remembered anything about the accident. He told her about his teddy bear he remembered playing with when they were hit. the next thing he remembered was waking up in a hospital. he never saw his bear again.
Alex found out the girls name was Kaitlyn. She seemed really interested in his scar. They talked for along time and Kaitlyn even knew some information about the accident. Thats when ALex began to wonder what was going on. Kaitlyn assured him there was nothing to worry about, her parents were investigaters whohad been asigned to investigate the car crash.
Alex wasnt so sure that Kailyn was telling the truth so he began asking questions about how she knew so much. After a while Kaitlyn broke down and told him, "I was in the car that crashed into you." she pulled back her hair and showed him a large scar stretching across her forehead . "My uncle was driving... he made me promise never to tell anyone... he gave me a teddy bear. and now i think it might be yours." Alex was shocked, he didnt know what to say.
"im so sorry i should have told my parents! i hadnt realized how much stress and money it would cost your family" kaitlyn said. "NO its alright its over... but im going to have to tell my parents" "I completely understand, just could you not mention me. my uncle would be livid.:" "Of course, thank you for telling me". Alex went home and told his parents about what he found out and him and Kaitlyn became fast friends
