For English class
Winston is not the purest of heart. He lusts over a girl that he has never met in person, and has had some thoughts that are leading him to sin. We do not know why this topic is stressed so much, but neither of us are the author. Normally heroes do not have these thoughts, so anti- hero is a possibility. "And then smash her head into the cobblestone. The piece of glass in his hand would be heavy enough for the job." (101)
Winston wanted to bash a girls head in with a paperweight. And he doesn't like one of the guys at work (although he and O'Brian are now apparently friends) so if he had the chance would he kill his coworkers if he had the chance? Especially if they were a threat to the rebellion? "Serve our interests to splash sulfuric acid in a child's face- would you do it? Yes. " (172)
In the two minutes of rage Winston lost control and threw a book at the television. Why one would throw a book I do not know, but this was not very heroic. And stealing chocolate from your sister is also a pretty bad act in itself. "Winston! Come back! Give your sister back her chocolate!" 163
