Storyboard Text

  • Step aside men, let the ladies do the work!
  • Women were  critical in winning the American Revolution. The woman that I am going to focus on is Margaret Corbin.
  • Margaret had gone through many hardships in her youth, but in the end that is what helped her become so courageous and resilient. When Margaret turned 21 she had married John corbin. He then signed up for 3 year military leave and ,unlike many woman Margaret went with him.
  • I bet the men won't believe their eyes for seeing a woman be at the fort with them!
  • However, she too, was hit by enemy fire. She was shot and which nearly severed her left arm and severely wounded her jaw. The after affects of her wound left her unable to use her left arm ever again. Along with everything else, she was captured by the victors of that battle. After medical care and being released she was struggling, financially. So, she  joined the Invalid Regiment at West Point, where she aided the wounded until she was formerly discharged in 1783. But, she was first woman to receive a military pension. Thank you, Margaret Corbin for you service and you courageous act has been honored by many.
  • Thank you Mrs. Corbin for your help! Now i will be able to fight for freedom again!
  • Margaret did not fight but she was paid for doing the laundry and cooking for the soldiers. She also helped by caring for the sick and wounded.
  • One night before she made her mind up on going to the battlefield with her husband, she made her plan. She didn't want anyone to stop her because she wanted to be free along with all the other men fighting. She had to dress as a man so that she was for surely not going to get caught right off the bat. She said her prayers incase she may not come back alive, but she was doing all for her country.
  • I will fight for my freedom so that we will no longer be under the restraint of the King!    Thank you heavenly father for the opportunities that you have given me.
  • On November 16,1776 margaret woke up before all the soldiers and got dressed. She waited for all the men and went into the formation. Her husband had been incharge for loading the cannon but sadly he was shot and killed. so instead of grief, Margaret took over his job. She was gifted with superb aim and steadiness.
  • For my husband and freedom!
  • I am proud to have served and helped my states/nation be victorious! We had achieved our goal and now we will build from the ground up.
