Rainsford cried out, "'As he realized he had reached to far and had lost his balance. The cry was pinched off short as the blood-warm waters of the Carribean sea closed over his head'" (Connell 63).
Rainford started to think, "The general was coming with unusual swiftness" (Connell 78).
Rainsford hesitated, "He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea..." (Connell 80).

Rainsford decided, "'He had never slept in a better bed'" (Connell 80).
